Intermediate Program

What comes after mastering the fundamentals? What is next on the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu journey?

The Gracie Barra Program Structure defines three main stages of development for students: the Fundamentals Program, the Advanced Program and the Black Belt Program. These stages indicate different maturity levels and students upgrade from one to the other in their own natural progression.

While the Fundamentals Program focuses on the building blocks and basic principles of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, the Advanced Program is built on high-level techniques and drills that start shaping the students game flow through the development of reflexes, speed and reaction time as well as transitions between one technique and another.

After a few months in the GB Advanced Program students typically experience a deeper involvement in GB’s philosophy, a stronger bond with training partners as well as more discipline and commitment to healthy habits that keep them in good shape.

Advanced Program classes are based on a defined class structure and curriculum that take a broad and open-minded approach, incorporating techniques from different grappling styles like wrestling, judo, sambo, and, of course, Gracie Barra Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

Live Training Class

This class is conducted at an increased level of intensity and is intended for those students seeking a more challenging physical experience. The class incorporates both situational drills, stand up techniques, and live training.

Muay Thai Kick Boxing

Developed in Thailand, Muay Thai has been an essential part of Thai culture from its infancy. What began as a close-combat battlefield fighting skill over 500 years ago has since evolved into the national—and most popular spectator sport—in Thailand.

Also known as the “Art of Eight Limbs,” Muay Thai utilizes punches, kicks, elbows, and knees and is known for its overwhelming striking power. Proven to be extremely useful for self-defense purposes, it’s devastating effectiveness has also gained respect in the world of mixed martial arts, where it is now a staple of many MMA professionals. A perfect complement to Brazilian jiu-jitsu, Muay Thai has become, along with BJJ, one of the fastest growing and practiced martial arts today.

This class is great for increasing strength, flexibility and cardio endurance. It is intensely physical, and is an incredible workout that will give you an outlet to relive stress at the end of a day. Muay Thai will help you create a flexible, lean, and sculpted body. Most techniques learned during classes are performed on various pads while using boxing gloves. Muay Thai is perfect for anyone who wants to learn how to fight and defend themselves properly, or if you are just looking for a good workout. The average caloric burn in a Muay Thai class is 800 calories.

Mixed Martial Arts

This class combines traditional boxing, muay thai striking, and grappling, together with conditioning drills. Whether the student is interested in training to fight in the cage, or training MMA as a path to greater fitness, this class offers a complete and challenging total workout.


Focused on taking an opponent off his feet and to the ground, Judo gives the student an understanding of the principals involved and practical training. This class is conducted at an intensity level suitable for both beginners as well as more advanced students.

Future champs program

What does it take to be a champion? Can a martial art support a parent’s instruction?

To excel in any endeavor, individuals need to have a strong set of values and a solid character that gives them perseverance to achieve his or her goals. The Gracie Barra Future Champions Program was created to provide children ages 3-15 with an environment that allows them to experience and understand core values like focus, discipline, persistence, cooperation and respect.

As a contact sport, Gracie Barra Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu provides a very challenging yet safe and caring environment for a child to mature towards a real life champion. The outcome of continued childhood practice of GB BJJ goes far beyond the accomplishments on the mats. The discipline and excellence demanded by our instructors often carries over to the child’s behavior at home and at school.

Our Future Champions Program is divided in to two groups to accommodate students of different ages and skill levels:

  • Little Champions (5-9years old)
  • Juniors Champs (10-14 years old)

The first time you come to our school you will be welcomed by our staff. Please arrive 15 minutes before class so you and your children have enough time to prepare for practice. The class will start on time and your child will be asked to walk to the training area where the instructor will be waiting for him or her. One of the assistant instructors or a senior student will be assigned as a helper to assist your child in performing the drills and activities. Parents are encouraged to stay and watch the entire practice.

Women's Program

Should a girl know how to fight? Why should a female be part of Gracie Barra?

Aside from all classes offered in the Adults Gracie Barra Program Structure, our school offers a set of classes designed to introduce women to the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

As a martial art designed to allow the weaker to defeat the stronger, BJJ is a perfect fit for women who are interested in learning how to protect themselves – and who wouldn’t be, right?

The Gracie Barra Women’s Program combines a comprehensive self-defense curriculum with emphasis on drills that simulate realistic attack and escape situations.

The techniques are complemented by a strong fitness component that is second to none compared to classes offered in regular gyms.

Classes specially designed for women like Rape Prevention, BJJ Conditioning and social “get togethers” are added benefits to the ordinary GB activities and create a strong bond between the members of the “Gracie Barra Pink Team.”
